Upstream부터 Downstream까지 Bioprocess 전체 Workflow를 이해하고, Filtration 분야의 전문성을 쌓을 수 있습니다. 고객의 실제 공정과 Technical Challenge를 기반으로 Filter Evaluation, Application Study 및 Technical Consulting을 수행하며 전문성을 확장할 수 있습니다.

2️⃣ Lab-scale Evaluation부터 실제 Bioprocess 적용까지 연결하는 경험
고객의 새로운 Molecule 및 Process 개발 단계에서 다양한 Filtration Solution을 직접 평가하고, 실험 결과와 데이터를 기반으로 적합한 Filter와 Process Condition을 제안합니다. 단순 제품 지원을 넘어 고객의 Process Development와 Scale-up을 함께 지원할 수 있습니다.

3️⃣ 성장하는 Biopharma 시장에서 새로운 Application과 Business Opportunity를 만드는 역할
주요 Biopharma 및 CDMO 고객과 긴밀하게 협업하며 새로운 Application과 Technical Needs를 발굴합니다. Sales 및 다양한 내부 조직과 함께 고객의 제품 도입을 지원하고 새로운 Business Opportunity와 Market Growth에 기여할 수 있습니다.


주요 업무

• Biopharma 고객의 Bioprocess Workflow 및 Technical Needs를 이해하고 Application에 대한 Technical Consulting 제공
• Clarification, Sterile Filtration, TFF 등 고객 공정에 적합한 Filtration Solution 및 Application 제안
• 고객 프로젝트에 따른 Filter Evaluation, Sizing 및 Application Study 설계·수행
• 실험 결과 및 데이터를 분석하여 적합한 Filter, Process Condition 및 Scale-up을 위한 Technical Recommendation 제공
• 고객의 Filtration Application 관련 Technical Issue에 대한 Troubleshooting 및 문제 해결 지원
• 고객 대상 Technical Seminar, Presentation, Training 및 Scientific Consultation 진행

자격요건 

• Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Life Sciences 등 관련 전공 석사 이상
• Bioprocessing, Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing, Process Development 등 관련 경력 3년 이상
• Bioprocess 전반의 Workflow 및 공정에 대한 이해를 보유하신 분
• Clarification, Sterile Filtration, TFF 등 Bioprocess Filtration 관련 Hands-on 경험을 보유하신 분
• 실험 설계·수행 및 데이터 분석을 통한 Technical Problem Solving 역량을 보유하신 분
• 고객 및 내부 유관부서와 원활하게 소통할 수 있는 Technical Communication 및 영어 커뮤니케이션 역량을 보유하신 분

우대사항

• Downstream Process Development 또는 Filtration Application 경험을 보유하신 분

Job Description
Field Application Scientist – Bioprocessing

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and technically skilled Field Application Scientist (FAS) – Bioprocessing to join our team in South Korea.

As a Field Application Scientist, you will serve as a trusted scientific and technical partner to our customers, providing application expertise across bioprocessing and filtration technologies. You will work closely with customers to understand their processes and technical challenges, develop fit-for-purpose solutions, and support successful evaluation and implementation of our technologies.

Working in close partnership with the Sales team, you will provide the technical and scientific expertise required throughout the customer engagement process, while Sales maintains ownership of the commercial relationship and sales process. Through strong application knowledge and customer engagement, you will help differentiate our solutions, uncover technical opportunities, and contribute to sustainable business growth.

Responsibilities

1. Provide on-site scientific and technical consultation to customers, with a primary focus on bioprocessing and filtration applications.
2. Develop a strong understanding of customer processes, workflows, and technical challenges and recommend appropriate solutions based on application and process requirements.
3. Serve as a technical subject matter expert during customer engagements, supporting the Sales team with scientific, application, and process expertise.
4. Deliver technical seminars, presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions to customers, sharing application expertise and industry best practices.
5. Provide technical consultation and troubleshooting to resolve customer application challenges and support successful implementation of solutions.
6. Design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments, application studies, and filter evaluations to support customer projects, product evaluations, and technical investigations.
7. Analyze experimental data and translate technical findings into clear, practical recommendations for customers.
8. Support customer product evaluations and technical decision-making by developing appropriate evaluation approaches, success criteria, and technical recommendations.
9. Identify application opportunities and unmet technical needs within customer processes and collaborate with Sales to develop appropriate customer solutions.
10. Build and maintain trusted technical relationships with scientists, engineers, process development teams, manufacturing teams, and other technical stakeholders at customer organizations.
11. Collaborate with internal cross-functional and global teams to communicate customer requirements, technical feedback, and emerging market and application needs.
12. Capture and share application knowledge, customer insights, and best practices to strengthen organizational technical capabilities and customer support.

Collaboration with Sales
The Field Application Scientist and Sales teams work as close partners with distinct but complementary responsibilities.
The FAS owns the scientific and technical engagement, including understanding customer process requirements, technical consultation, application development, product evaluation, troubleshooting, and technical recommendations.
The Sales team owns the commercial engagement, including account strategy, opportunity management, pricing, quotation, negotiation, forecasting, and commercial closure.
Together, FAS and Sales develop customer solutions that combine strong technical value with commercial execution, helping customers achieve successful outcomes while supporting sustainable business growth.

Requirements

1. Master’s degree or higher in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Life Sciences, or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
2. Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in bioprocessing, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, filtration, process development, or a closely related field.
3. Strong understanding of bioprocessing workflows and principles, preferably including clarification, sterile filtration, or related upstream/downstream filtration applications.
4. Hands-on laboratory experience with the ability to independently plan, execute, analyze, and document experiments.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand customer processes and translate technical challenges into practical solutions.
6. Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate scientific and technical information to different customer audiences.
7. Strong customer-facing mindset and demonstrated ability to establish credibility and build trusted technical relationships.
8. Ability to work independently in the field while effectively collaborating with Sales, regional/global technical teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Korean.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience working with or supporting biopharmaceutical manufacturers, CDMOs, or other customers within the bioprocessing industry.
2. Experience conducting customer-facing technical presentations, application studies, product evaluations, or troubleshooting activities.
3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with commercial teams while maintaining ownership of scientific and technical activities.
