Job Summary

1. Perform linguistic quality reviews of clinical and medical documents translated from Korean into English, including clinical trial protocols, informed consent forms, and other regulatory materials.
2. Ensure translation accuracy, consistency, and compliance with clinical and medical terminology standards before regulatory submission.
3. Serve as a final quality checkpoint, identifying and resolving linguistic issues to maintain high-quality deliverables.
4. Collaborate with a global Language Services team to improve translation quality, terminology consistency, and existing processes.
5. Key Requirements: Native or near-native Korean proficiency, strong English skills, clinical/medical translation experience, and linguistic quality review expertise.
6. Preferred Skills: Experience with CAT tools, terminology management, and medical or clinical translation services.
7. Work Environment: Remote-based role in Seoul within a small, collaborative international team, offering ownership of Korean linguistic quality and opportunities for process improvement.

Job Description

1. Thermo Fisher Scientific Language Services is looking for a Korean Language Specialist with experience in clinical translation and quality assurance to join the internal team. Essential functions would include: 
2. Coordinating and managing the final quality of assigned translations to ensure a high-quality standard. 
3. Running language assets, e.g. translation memories, terminology and style guides: 
4. Performing occasional linguistic tasks including initial translation, revision, client feedback implementation 
5. Performing quality checks on clinical translations (ICFs, protocols, IBs, patient diaries, etc.). 
6. Developing and maintaining terminology and style guides for the language 
7. Ensuring Korean translation memories are updated. 
8. Setting and executing linguistic quality assurance processes for the assigned language globally as required. 
9. Using CAT technology to monitor quality of outsourced language translations and external suppliers. 
10. Analyzing language quality issues and working on any quality improvement plans with project management team. 

Applicants should meet one of the below educational/professional requirements:  

1. Bachelor's degree in translations, linguistics or language studies with significant translation studies from a recognized institution or higher education.  
2. Bachelor's degree in another field and 2 years of translation experience (preferred in medical device/biotech translation)   

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

1. Native Language: Korean
2. CAT/TMS Tool Experience Required 
3. Proven Terminology and TM experience required 
4. Proven skills of multi-tasking, time management, organization, and attention to detail 
5. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English 
6. Proficiency in MS Office suite
