주요 업무

1) Privacy 법률 자문 및 컴플라이언스

• CRM, 이커머스, 마케팅, 리테일, HR, 디지털, 고객 관련 활동 전반에 걸친 실무적·리스크 기반 프라이버시 자문 제공
• 프라이버시 리스크 평가 및 상업적으로 실행 가능한 컴플라이언스 방안 제시
• 제3자 벤더와의 데이터 처리 계약(DPA) 및 관련 계약 조항 검토·협상
• 개인정보보호법(PIPA) 준수 요건 및 변화하는 규제 동향에 대한 자문
• 신규 사업 이니셔티브, 운영 프로세스 변경, 조직 개편에 따른 프라이버시 요건 이행 지원
• 
  

2) 데이터 인시던트 관리

• 데이터 인시던트, 데이터 유출 등 긴급한 평가와 의사결정이 필요한 프라이버시 사안에 대한 법률 대응 주도
• IT, 사이버보안, 고객케어, HR, 컴플라이언스 등 사내 유관 부서와의 조사 조율
• 인시던트 대응 시 지역(Regional) 및 글로벌 프라이버시 팀과의 커뮤니케이션 및 정합성 관리
• 법적 통지·신고 의무 검토 및 규제기관 커뮤니케이션 조율

참고: 최근 개인정보보호법 개정에 따라 통지 의무의 범위가 확대되어, 기존의 단순 ‘유출’뿐 아니라 개인정보의 무단 변경이나 수정과 같은 사안까지 포함되는 것으로 파악되고 있으며, 해당되는 경우 사고 인지 시점으로부터 72시간 이내 통지해야 하는 의무가 발생할 수 있습니다. (※ 실제 적용 범위와 세부 요건은 최신 개인정보보호법령 및 개인정보보호위원회 가이드라인을 통해 별도 확인이 필요합니다.)

• 재발 방지를 위한 인시던트 대응 프로세스 및 내부 통제 개선 지원

3) 규제 대응 지원

• 규제기관의 질의, 감사, 조사, 점검, 집행 조치 등에 대한 대응 지원
• 자료 제출, 사실관계 확인, 내부 이해관계자 조율, 규제기관과의 커뮤니케이션 지원
• 중대한 규제 대응, 조사, 집행 관련 사안에 대해 Senior Legal Counsel과 긴밀히 협업
• 국내외 프라이버시 관련 법률 및 규제 동향 지속 모니터링
• 프라이버시 관련 컴플라이언스 및 인증 프로그램 지원

4) Privacy 프로젝트 및 운영 지원

• 개인정보와 관련된 글로벌, 지역, 로컬 프로젝트에 대한 프라이버시 자문 및 지원
• 마케팅, 리테일, 고객케어, HR, IT, 보안 등 유관 부서와의 데이터 관련 프로젝트 협업
• 정보주체의 권리 행사(열람, 정정, 삭제 등) 프로세스 운영 및 관련 법적 요건 준수 지원
• 프라이버시 영향평가(PIA), 데이터 매핑, Privacy by Design 이니셔티브 수행 지원
• 글로벌 및 지역 프라이버시 이니셔티브의 한국 내 실행 지원

5) 문서화, 교육 및 인식 제고

• 프라이버시 고지, 동의서, 정책, 절차 등 관련 문서의 작성 및 업데이트
• 글로벌 프라이버시 정책, 프레임워크, 템플릿의 한국 현지화 및 실행 지원
• 프라이버시 거버넌스 기록 및 컴플라이언스 문서 관리
• 임직원 대상 교육 자료, 인식 제고 프로그램, 실무 가이드 개발 및 배포

Job Mission
As part of the Chanel Korea Legal team, the Legal Counsel – Data Privacy will serve as a key advisor on privacy, data protection, and information governance matters across the business.
The role will partner closely with local, regional, and global stakeholders to provide privacy legal advice, lead data incident response, support regulatory engagements, and drive privacy compliance initiatives, ensuring compliance with Korean privacy laws in an increasingly active enforcement environment.
Key Responsibilities
 
1. Privacy Legal Advisory & Compliance

• Provide practical, risk-based privacy advice across CRM, ecommerce, marketing, retail, HR, digital, and client engagement activities
• Assess privacy risks and recommend commercially pragmatic compliance solutions
• Review and negotiate Data Processing Agreements and other privacy-related contractual provisions with third-party vendors
• Advise stakeholders on PIPA compliance requirements and evolving regulatory expectations
• Support implementation of privacy requirements across business initiatives, operational processes, and organizational changes

 
2. Data Incident Management

• Lead legal response to data incidents, data breaches, and privacy-related matters requiring urgent assessment and decision-making
• Coordinate investigations with business teams, IT, Cybersecurity, Client Care, HR, Compliance, and other stakeholders
• Manage alignment and communications with regional and global privacy teams during incident response
• Assess legal notification and reporting obligations and coordinate regulatory communications where required
• Support remediation efforts and continuous improvement of incident response processes and controls

 
3. Regulatory & Enforcement Support

• Support responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, inspections, and enforcement matters
• Assist with submissions, fact-finding, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory communications
• Partner closely with the Senior Legal Counsel – Data Privacy on significant regulatory exercises, investigations, and enforcement matters
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting privacy compliance
• Support privacy-related compliance or certification programs

 
4. Privacy Projects & Operational Support

• Provide privacy support for global, regional, and local projects involving personal data
• Partner with Marketing, Retail, Client Care, HR, IT, Security, and other functions on data-related initiatives
• Support data subject rights processes and compliance with local legal requirements
• Conduct or support privacy impact assessments, data mapping, and privacy-by-design initiatives
• Support rollout and execution of global and regional privacy initiatives within Korea

 
5. Documentation, Training & Awareness

• Draft and update privacy notices, consent forms, policies, procedures, and related documentation
• Support localization and implementation of global privacy policies, frameworks, and templates
• Maintain privacy governance records and compliance documentation
• Develop training materials, awareness programs, and practical guidance for business stakeholders

 
Profile & Qualifications
Lawyer qualified in Korea or another relevant jurisdiction, with fluency in both English and Korean

• At least 4 years PQE gained in a leading law firm and/or major company
• Experience advising on data privacy, technology, cybersecurity, digital, or regulatory matters
• Strong knowledge of Korean privacy laws and regulations, including PIPA
• Experience managing data incidents, regulatory inquiries, investigations, or enforcement matters preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage time-sensitive matters and coordinate effectively across business, technical, regional, and global stakeholders
• Strong drafting, analytical, stakeholder management, and project management skills
• Collaborative, business-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

자격 요건

필수 요건

• 한국 변호사 또는 관련 관할권에서 자격을 취득한 변호사
• 최소 4년 이상 경력 (PQE 4년 이상)  - 경력이 아주 근소하게 짧아도 전체 경력 본 포지션에 잘 맞으면 고려 가능할 수도 있으니 꼭 문의 바랍니다.
• 로펌 및/또는 대기업에서의 관련 실무 경력
• 데이터 프라이버시, 기술, 사이버보안, 디지털, 규제 관련 업무 경험
• 개인정보보호법(PIPA) 등 한국 관련 법령에 대한 이해
• 영어: Fluent 수준 필수 (업무상 영문 자문 및 문서 작성 가능한 수준)

우대 요건

• 데이터 인시던트, 규제 조사, 집행 대응 경험 보유자
• 프라이버시, 기술 계약, 사이버보안, 규제, 조사, 디지털/이커머스 등 다양한 분야를 폭넓게 경험한 변호사도 환영하며, 반드시 프라이버시 전문 변호사일 필요는 없으나 데이터/프라이버시 관련 업무를 실질적으로 다뤄본 경험은 필요
• 시간에 민감한 사안을 관리하고, 비즈니스·기술·지역·글로벌 이해관계자와 효과적으로 협업한 경험
