Procurement Manager
Tasks
Job Summary:
To work closely with the gate group Leadership Team to ensure the strategic development and implementation of effective category plans, beneficial contract negotiations with both new and existing suppliers and internal stakeholder management to drive direct and in-direct value into the business. The Procurement Manager will lead the strategic sourcing manager(s) directly to meet allocated annual financial savings and cost mitigation targets.
Procurement & Supply Chain Development
- Design, develop, implement and lead the design and definition of procurement strategic category plans, using existing frameworks and developing new, ensuring effective implementation and execution.
- Be responsible for all business spend categories, developing procurement strategies and best practice to deliver and track cost savings and avoidance within all categories ending with measurable on-going reductions in the cost of acquiring goods and services.
- Manage tenders by utilising electronic sourcing tools to ensure fully auditable procurement process is followed, minimize internal purchasing transaction costs, rationalise evaluation procedure, and ensure negotiated pricing terms translate into operational profits.
- Support business financial initiatives and objectives and develop product and service sourcing strategies ensuring they are migrated into the supply chain with minimum interruption.
- Develop strategic relationships with a targeted supplier base in line with core products and business needs maximising ‘credit for value’ and eradicating “non-value” added activities.
- Develop initiatives to support commercial teams and improve quality where appropriate in response to customer requirements - support the sales process towards new & existing customers
- Take ownership of a fully rationalised and standardised product range and manage to its optimum performance as a business as usual activity.
- Track and understand the impact of global commodities with an understanding of the needs to meet local sourcing requirements and use to advantage where possible.
- To lead and monitor contract and pricing negotiations for both current and existing suppliers for all spend activities. (Products, services and CAPEX) and ensure best possible terms and conditions and leverage maximised for the business.
- Responsible for setting and monitoring supplier KPIs and developing best practice in supplier management techniques.
- Contract compliance management in accordance with agreed SLAs and KPIs.
- Ensure suppliers are held accountable for meeting continuous improvement initiatives both from a strategic and tactical perspective including lead time reduction, flexibility to schedules, quality improvement.
- Assume strategic responsibilities for and implementing of global agreements
- Regional Procurement Initiatives - lead, develop, manage and execute regional sourcing activates as directed as part of the wider APAC Procurement organisation.
Leadership
- Partner with other internal leaders and teams to advise the business and functional leadership on all aspects of the procurement function.
- Plan, track and report project progress in terms of deadlines and implementation.
- Coaching & Training
- Team Development – utilise effectively the Personal Development Planning process, own the team’s personal development and be responsible for the maximisation of their potential and providing them opportunities to develop themselves.
- Lead by example and effectively mentor, empower and install values of the business within team environment
- Provide reporting colleagues as much training and coaching as possible to maximise team performance
- Maintain and develop a succession plan to ensure stability, the long-term capability and nurturing of talent.
- Contribute to departmental process review initiatives, providing insight to leading practices in procurement, innovation from suppliers and supplier initiatives and original internal external research in program areas. Guide process improvement initiatives through pilot and full roll-out programs.
Requirements
Education:
- Degree Level Qualification – Essential
- Business related or tertiary supply chain or procurement qualification (CIPS or other) - Preferred
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years work experience in a Procurement, Buying or Supply Chain Environment
- Previous leadership experience within a centralised procurement or supply chain environment
- An understanding of strategic sourcing to implement applicable target driven actions
- Understanding & Experienced in Direct Spend & InDirect Spend Management
- Experience in Procurement Sourcing Platform is preferred
- Experience in managing agency/temporary labour sourcing is preferred
- Experience interacting or working as part of a regional team
- Experience in sourcing food and beverage products
- A track record of large volume and complex negotiations on current and new contracts
- Awareness of commercial and contract levers and risks
- Awareness and knowledge of with regard to policies, quality requirements and guidelines in the food industry
- Experienced in developing key strategic relations through communicating with national and international suppliers and customers
- Ability to motivate and manage cross-functional and cross-entity teams, securing resources, redirecting teams efforts and focus shifts.
- Previously worked in a complex procurement environment (preferably Airline Industry, Catering or FMCG environment)
Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)
- An understanding of data structures and master data.
- A full working knowledge of spread sheet functions and presentation software.
- Good presentation, listening and communication skills.
Language / Communication Skills:
- Native local language and excellent English written and oral communication skills.
