Job Summary (main objectives)   

Looking for an R&D Senior Formulator Colour Specialist. He/she will be engaged in developing innovative formulations, following global compliance and the Launch strategy plan. He/she could support the R&D Senior Manager on mentoring/coaching more junior team members, and or interns. 

Responsibilities & Activites

Formulation and Product Development

1. Develop, formulate, and optimise all types of coloured galenic forms in response to Marketing briefs (AP), while ensuring compliance with regulations, internal charters in force, and our eco‑design commitments. 
2. Led projects from initiation to completion under minimal supervision, consistently meeting defined goals and compliance standards. 
3. Guarantee product stability, quality, safety, and performance in collaboration with the relevant R&D teams. 
4. Identify and test new raw materials of interest. 
5. Validate the compliance and implementation of new active ingredients or new raw materials. 
6. Ensure compliance on marketed products and ensure changes are made, within the timeframe established by the markets. 
7. Master the development stages and independently ensure the progress and completion of formulations associated with development projects, respecting timelines to guarantee product launch (MAD). 
8. Ensure cross‑functional project management. 
9. Maintain close awareness of scientific literature, raw material technologies, processing methodologies.  
10. Closely monitor and use marketing and consumer trends in cosmetic product development.  

Methods and Analyses

1. Plan and carry out the physico‑chemical and organoleptic analyses required for formula development. 
2. Coordinate the implementation of tests necessary to secure projects (sensory profiles, consumer tests, tolerance, challenge tests, PT/IO, etc.). 
3. Analyse and interpret results to guide development decisions. 

 
Industrialisation and Cross‑Functional Collaboration

1. Work closely with contract and third-party manufacturers to coordinate the development and scale-up of formulations for launch.  
2. Contribute to the scale‑up of formulas and the establishment of manufacturing processes. 
3. Troubleshoot existing products mass production quality difficulties.  
4. Participate in cross‑functional projects related to the team’s activities and/or associated working groups. 

 Data Management

1. Fill the required information on the formulation database. 
2. Keep product files and technical documentation up to date. 
3. Ensure the availability of reliable business data and/or accurate entry into reference tools (master tools, automation tools, specific databases, collaborative platforms, etc.).

 
Laboratory Organisation

1. Contribute to the daily management and maintenance of the laboratory. 
2. Support proper organisation and compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) and quality standards. 
3. Oversee and maintain a safe (5S) and orderly laboratory environment (lab equipment, facility & raw material maintenance). 

R&D Formulation Organisation

1. Mentoring and coaching junior members of the team and interns. 
2. Support the R&D Senior Manager in the management of the team.

Job requirements

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in cosmetics field.  
2. Fluent in English (written and oral). Nice to have, would be French and/or Korean.
3. Good knowledge of chemistry and formulation, 
4. Strong knowledge on colour cosmetics development, 
5. Strong knowledge on colour science
6. Knowledge of consumer trends and regulatory in cosmetics, 
7. Data analysis, 
8. Deep understanding of product development, science, and technical dossiers, 
9. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with excellent written communication skills.
